Transfering domains from one registrar to another
Transfering domains from one registrar to another
Updated over a year ago

The process of transferring your domain from one registrar to another, such as moving from Godaddy to Namecheap, is more straightforward than it may seem. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you seamlessly navigate this transition:

1. Assess Existing Services:

- Before initiating the transfer, consider any existing website, email accounts, or services associated with the domain. Ensure you are prepared for the move.

2. Log in to Your Domain Registrar Dashboard:

- Access the dashboard of your current domain registrar and locate the domain management section.

3. Explore Transfer Options:

- Look for the transfer option within the domain management settings. If not explicitly stated, you might find an option to obtain the EPP Code, a domain password necessary for the transfer.

4. Secure the EPP Code:

- Copy the EPP Code and store it securely. This code acts as a safeguard, ensuring only the domain owner can execute the transfer to another registrar.

5. Log in to the New Registrar's Dashboard:

- Access the dashboard of the registrar where you intend to transfer the domain (e.g., Namecheap).

6. Initiate Domain Transfer:

- Search for any option related to domain transfer on the new registrar's platform. Enter the domain name when prompted.

7. Enter the EPP Code:

- During the transfer process, you'll be prompted to input the EPP Code you obtained from the current registrar.

8. Submit and Await Confirmation:

- Submit the transfer request. Keep in mind that many transfers are manually reviewed, so anticipate a waiting period of at least 48 hours for feedback on the transfer status.

9. Finalize the Transfer:

- Once confirmed, your domain transfer is complete.

10. Verify DNS Records:

- After the transfer, ensure that essential records, such as MX records, are repopulated correctly in the new registrar's settings. This step guarantees the seamless functioning of services tied to your domain in its new location.

This straightforward guide ensures a smooth transition, allowing you to move your domain hassle-free from one registrar to other preferred registrar.
