Tracking email opens and clicks involve adding a special code to the end of specific URLs, like this: example.com/{code}. Each URL is unique for a reason, helping us know when an email is opened or a link is clicked.
But with millions of users using the same domain, like example.com, it can get tricky. That's where a custom tracking domain comes in handy. It allows you to use your unique domain for tracking opens and clicks, making things simpler for you.
Adding a Custom Domain:
1. Get a Domain:
If you don't have a domain, buy one from sites like GoDaddy.
If you already have a domain, log in to your domain provider's account.
Locate Your Domain:
Find the domain you want to use.
Access DNS Settings:
Look for the settings or manage section where you can edit the DNS record.
Create a New DNS Record:
Type: CNAME
Host: track
Value: track.xrocket.ai
Save the changes (Note: It might take a few hours to propagate).
Tip: Use tools like MxToolbox.com to check if the record has propagated.
Go to Your Email Accounts:
Open your email account.
Access Email Settings:
Click the three dots next to the email account if you want to add the custom tracking link.
Go to 'Settings.'
Custom Tracking Domain:
In the popup box, select 'Settings.'
Scroll to 'Custom Tracking Domain' and check the box.
Enter Your Custom Domain:
Enter your custom tracking domain (e.g., track.yourdomain.com).
Replace 'yourdomain.com' with your actual domain name.
Save Changes:
Scroll down and hit the save button.
That's it! You've successfully added a custom tracking domain to your email account. If you face any issues, remember to double-check the steps or reach out for support. Happy tracking!
